The Surrey Heartlands Integrated Care System Area Prescribing Committee (APC) approves the Prevention, Investigation and Treatment of Vitamin D deficiency and Insufficiency in Children guidelines & treatment algorithm.

The Surrey Heartlands integrated care system Area Prescribing Committee (APC) have approved updated guidelines and a treatment pathway for the use of vitamin D (colecalciferol) in the prevention and treatment of vitamin D deficiency and insufficiency in adult patients. The Vitamin Guidelines and Treatment pathway (adults).
Patient resources are also available.
Colecalciferol should be prescribed generically in line with the local guidance below. Unlicensed, food supplements are not recommended for prescribing.
The PCMOCRG approved the information resources to provide advice to people who require vitamin D supplementation for prevention or treatment of deficiency.
This supports the NHSE advice for self care with vitamin D supplementation.
