An MDI plus spacer is at least as good as a nebuliser for treating mild or moderate exacerbations of asthma.
Nebulisers are not standard care in asthma and should only be prescribed on Respiratory Care Team recommendation - see home nebuliser guidelines below

A pathway has been agreed for the use of home nebulised therapy in specific cohorts of patients. The nebuliser and ongoing consumables are supplied direct to the patients home by Philips Respironics.
